Upcoming arts and entertainment events in 100 Mile House and the South Cariboo.

• April 27 – May 20 – The current Parkside exhibit will run until May 20. The exhibit is called Spring into Spring and the gallery is filled with local crafts, art, jewellery, weaving, baskets, pots, textiles, woodwork and more. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

• April 27 – May 2 – The Showcase Gallery features artist Sheryl Fremlin. Her work was put up on April 4 and features an array of watercolour artwork centred around horses.

• April 27 – 29 – Annual Festival of the Arts at the Martin Exeter Hall. Programs are now available at www.100milefesti valofthearts.ca. For information call Ginny-Lou at 250-395-3555. The festival runs until April 29 when it ends with the Showcase Concert. The festival features vocal performances, speech and dramatic arts, instrumental and piano performances scheduled throughout the event.

• April 29 – The Children’s Bike Rodeo on April 29 will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event features Children’s Bicycle Safety Training, goody bags, prizes, face painting, as well as free hot dogs and drinks for all participating children. For more information, call Darrel at 250-609-0432. The event is free to attend and organized by Crime Stoppers of the South Cariboo.

• May 2 – end of May – The next person who will display their work in the Showcase Gallery is Artist Guild member Eva Heese.

• May 4 – The Eclectica Community Choir is having its Spring Concert on Sunday, May 7 starting at 2 p.m. The Front Porch Bluegrass Band is playing at 1:30 p.m. for pre-concert music at Martin Exeter Hall. The proceeds go to the two hospital auxiliaries – Mill Site Lodge/Fischer Place and 100 Mile & District Hospital Auxiliaries. Admission is cash by donation.

• May 13 – There will be a Mother’s Day Strawberry Tea hosted by the Mill Site Lodge/Fisher Place Auxiliary from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the South Cariboo Health Centre Cafeteria (555 Cedar Avenue). The tea is by donation.
