Upcoming arts, entertainment and cultural events happening around the South Cariboo

• Feb. 8-13 – Parkside Art Gallery opens its new show, Into the Limelight 2012, featuring local artists Lianne Heales and Gina Myhill-Jones. Parkside hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, noon-4 p.m.

• Feb. 10 – Axis Family Resources celebrates its 20th anniversary on Feb. 10 with an open house from 2 to 3 p.m. at its location at 212-475 Birch Ave. All are welcome to share coffee and cake and learn more about what the agency does.

• Feb. 11 – The 12th Annual 100 Mile House Cowboy Concert at Martin Exeter Hall, with performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets $15 at Work n Play, 100 Mile Feed and The Log House Apparel, Tack and Harness .

• Feb. 11 – The Fifth Annual All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Night fundraising dinner and auction for the 100 Mile House & District Soccer Association takes place at the 108 Community Hall at 5 p.m. Tickets $12.50 at Donex, Dowes’ Diner, Nuthatch Books or by calling 250-791-6647.

• Feb. 11 – Valentine’s Dance, 8 p.m.-1 a.m., at Interlakes Hall with music by Marc Allen. Admission $15 at the door and includes light meal and door prizes.

• Feb. 12 – 100 Mile Snowmobile Club hosts Winterfest 40-kilometre poker ride fundraiser for the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities. Registration 8 a.m. and ride at 10 at the clubhouse on Ainsworth Road near the 99 Mile Ski Trails. Participants must collect a minimum $25 in pledges and pledge sheets can be picked up at all local snowmobile dealers.

• Feb. 16 – Grad versus Teachers hockey game annual fundraiser for Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School Dry Grad 2012. Puck drops 7 p.m. at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre. Admission $5, children 10 and under free. Win Canucks game tickets in the free airplane toss.

• Feb. 18 – Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre hosts Winter Carnival for young families, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at 100 Mile House Junior Secondary. Book giveaways, puppet shows, games, clown, bouncy castle, free snacks and more.

• Feb. 23-25 and March 1-3 – A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, presented by the 100 Mile Performing Arts Society at Martin Exeter Hall. Evening performances at 7 p.m. and Saturday matinees at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 at Didi’s, Donex and Curves.

• Feb. 24-26 – RE/MAX Cup senior mixed hockey tournament at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre.

• Feb. 25 – Lone Butte Fish and Wildlife Association Wild Game Dinner and Dance, 5:30 p.m.-1 a.m. at 100 Mile Community Hall.  Tickets are $40 at Exeter Sporting Goods.

• Feb. 25 – Lone Butte Fish and Wildlife Association presents displays with fly fishing, archery, trap shooters, cowboy action, black powder shooting, taxidermy and wild game horn and antler scoring, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at 100 Mile Community Hall.

• March 2 – World Day of Prayer, 7 p.m. at 100 Mile United Church, 43 Dogwood Ave. Prayer service was compiled in Malaysia. Non-denominational and everyone is welcome.

• March 3 – 100 Mile House Figure Skating Club presents its skating carnival, “The Magic Toy Box.” Show time, 7 p.m., doors open at 6. Tickets $10/adults; $5 age 6-18 years; five and under free, available at Pharmasave, Donex and 100 Mile Sport Shop.

• March 2-4 – 100 Mile Curling Club Women’s Bonspiel takes place at the 100 Mile Curling Club.
