A convenient listing of upcoming arts, entrainment and cultural events happening around the South Cariboo

• Dec. 31 – The Green Lake Snowmobile Club hosts the Third Annual Poker Ride, 9 a.m. at its clubhouse on South Green Lake Road. The ride is 40-50 kilometres and registration cost is by donation to BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities. Lunch concession is available.

• Jan. 7 – Sunrise Ford Peewee Reps take on McBride in a league game at 6 p.m. at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre, and the rematch is Jan. 8 at 10 a.m.

• Jan. 11-14, 18-21 – The Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School drama class presents their stage play, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll, at Martin Exeter Hall. Tickets available at Donex, Didi’s and at the school after Christmas break.

• Jan. 13-15 – 20th Anniversary of the Cariboo Challenge Jack Gawthorn Memorial Sled Dog Race takes place at the 108 Heritage Site. Dog team racing, weight pull, skijoring, and silent auction.

• Jan. 14 – Musher’s dinner and auction, 6 p.m. at The Hills Health Ranch. Tickets $24 and half price for children, available at The Hills.

• Jan. 13 – Parkside Art Gallery opens its new show, Into the Limelight 2012, featuring local artists Lianne Heales and Gina Myhill-Jones. Parkside hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, noon-4 p.m.
