Upcoming entertainment events in the 100 Mile House and South Cariboo area.

• March 16 – March 31 – The Critical Mass Pop-up Gallery (#1-150 Birch Ave.) is presenting Robert Skot McMillan’s Myth of Creation. Regular hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also visit by appointment or by chance. Call Gus at 250-644-0228 or e-mail criticalmass1922@gmail.com.

• March 17 – April 15 – The next Parkside exhibit will run for a month starting on March 17, with an opening reception all day on Saturday, March 18. The exhibit is called Spring into Spring and the gallery will be filled with things such as local crafts, art, jewelry, weaving, baskets, pots, textiles, woodwork and more. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

• March 17 is the next Solid Rock Cafe which will be at the Rock Youth Centre on 4930 Telqua Drive in the 108. The event will feature great local musical talent and admission is free. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and music starts at 7. For more info call Pat at 250-395-3846.

• March 9 – April 4 – A new exhibition will go up in the Showcase Art Gallery on Tuesday, March 7 at 10 a.m. with a theme called Equinox.

• March 25 – From 1 to 3 p.m. Parkside Gallery will have a workshop on how to make a willow vase with instructor Barb Brown. The cost is $10 and willow will be provided, but you will need to bring cutters and a 3-inch nail. The minimum age is 12 and participants are required to sign up.

• March 28 – The next of the South Cariboo Sustainability Winter Film Series will feature Koneline: Our Land Beautiful on March 28 at the Friendship Centre at 7 p.m. Directed by Nettie Wild, the film explores people who live in the Tahltan territory, including the Tahltan First Nations, diamond drillers, developers and more.

• March 30, 31 and April 1, 6, 7, 8 – A play directed by Nicole Weir, titled Steel Magnolias will be on at Martin Exeter Hall. The grand opening is March 30 at 7 p.m., with additional evening shows every evening until April 8. There will also be matinee shows at 1 p.m. on April 1 and 8. Tickets are $15.

• April 18-29 – Annual Festival of the Arts at the Martin Exeter Hall. Programs are now available on the website www.100milefestivalofthearts.ca. Need more info: call Ginny-Lou at 250-395-3555.
