Maple Ridge writer Cathy Ace will be sharing her secrets of success at the ACT on Nov. 20 in a multimedia presentations title Mystery Writing: From Plotting to Publishing.
Her book The Corpse with the Silver Tongue was released in March and has received several accolades since then including a review in the Globe and Mail and the Library Journal.
The book has also been picked as the second tome to be tackled by One Book Whonnock, a club based in Ace’s neighbourhood.
The Corpse with the Silver Tongue is a classic whodunnit, which features Welsh Canadian Professor Cait Morgan – a criminologist who specializes in profiling victims, when she’s not over-indulging in gourmet food.
In the south of France, where hatred simmers in the heat, a man seemingly admired, but certainly feared, is killed during a dinner party. All of the guests fall under suspicion, as each one has a possible motive for murder.
Add to that the disappearance of an ancient gold collar that’s said to be cursed and you have the ingredients for a Nicoise salad of death, secrets and lies. Will the resourceful Cait Morgan find the killer before she, too, becomes a victim of a murderer who is driven by a surprising, and disturbing, motive?
Black Bond Books in Haney Place Mall is offering a 10 per cent discount on the book for those taking part in the One Book Whonnock project. Ace will also be signing copies of all her books at the store on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Ace is at the ACT on Tuesday, Nov. 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
