WIN: Langley Advance readers given chance for ‘flashbacks’

Craving a little nostalgia? Cineplex is partnering with the Advance in a fun walk down memory lane.

Where were you when you first saw Back to the Future, The Terminator, A View to a Kill, or The Big Lebowski?

Do recollections of that time or place bring back a rush of memories?

Well, tap into some of that nostalgia, rekindle those recollections, share them with the Langley Advance, and be entered to win free passes to the ninth annual Flashback Film Fest next month.

Langley’s Cineplex theatre is one of only 27 across the country and three in the province participating in the annual Flashback Film Fest.

Film fest

And Langley Advance readers are being given an exclusive chance to be in the seats for these shows.

This event brings retro flicks back to the local theatre between Feb. 2 and 8, said Brad LaDouceur, vice-president of events cinema for Cineplex.

It gives fans the chance to see their favourite action, sci-fi, and comedy classic films again on the big screen, he elaborated.

“We are living at a time when there is an amazing appetite for ’80s and ’90s pop culture, and we had that in mind when selecting the films for this year’s Flashback Film Fest,” added author, film critic, and host of Pop Life, Richard Crouse.

“Many of today’s successful films and TV show are either influenced by or pay homage to films included in the festival’s line up. I’m really looking forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Big Lebowski,” Crouse said.

Lebowski is only one of 15 movies being shown.

The mainstream movies include Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Drunken Master (1978), WarGames (1983) Dune (1984), Gremlins (1984), The Terminator (1984), A View to a Kill (1985), Back to the Future (1985), Raising Arizona (1987), Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D (1991/2017), The Big Lebowski (1998), and The Iron Giant (1999).

Cineplex is also showing the Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg’s Cornetto Trilogy: Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World’s End (2013).

Festival tickets are $8.99 per admission, $7.99 for three or more films, and $75 for the film fest pass that allows access to all 15 movies. They can be purchased online.
