A wide range of locally made glass art will be on display and available for purchase this weekend.
The fourth annual Island Glass Art Spring Show and Sale will be held at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre on Saturday (April 19) and will feature various types of glass art work, such as stained, kiln cast, fused, lamp-worked, sand-carved and furnace blown glass.
Admission to the event is by donation, with proceeds going to the Loaves & Fishes Food Bank and everyone who attends will be automatically entered to win a $300 gift certificate.
“We’re drawing for a $300 shopping spree to be spent at the show,” Damaris Oakley, Island Glass Art show organizer said. “The draw is going to happen at 4 p.m. and if the people aren’t there when the draw takes place then that’s okay too because they can go to our website and pick out the ones they like and make arrangements with the artist.”
The spring show, which is in its fourth year, will feature art work from 12 studios including Nanaimo based Cheeky Monkey Glassworks and Oakley’s Redroom Artglass Studio.
The Island Art Glass show have also held shows in the fall. However, organizers have decided against the idea this year.
