LCMS faculty member Bernard Duerkson joins fellow West Coast Chamber Music colleagues to revel in works by Robert Schumann and Franz Schubert at the Rose Gellert Hall on Sunday, Jan. 30.
Elizabeth Bergmann, LCMS’ artistic co-director, concerts, will present a pre-concert talk at 3 p.m., followed by the performance at 4 p.m.
“The concert pairs two great masterworks of romantic music by Schubert and Schumann, both masters at constructing and weaving memorable and beautiful melodies,” said Bergmann.
“Schumann’s Piano Quintet is probably one of the most popular and loved works as it contains rich themes and treats the piano and string quartet as equal partners.
“And equally as impressive, the String Quartet No. 13 in A minor, D. 804 nicknamed the Rosamunde Quartet by Franz Schubert is a great example of his later style, full of introspection and emotion.”
Tickets are available at the Langley Community Music School box office at 604-534-2848 for $15 adults, $13 seniors, and $10 students.
The Rose Gellert Hall is located at 4899 207 St.
