Two playful women who help people to create connections through
sound and movement are offering a workshop this Saturday
from 2 to 5:30 at the Abbey in Cumberland.
VocalEase instructor Joanna Finch and Methusala dance instructor Jade De Trey have designed an all ages workshop to get people singing and moving in authentic and healthful ways that are both good for physical and spiritual health.
Finch is a professional singer and improvisor with an incredible
repertoire of vocal sounds that she has spent a lifetime exploring.
De Trey is an inspiring and innovative dance teacher who has
studied classical dance forms, modern dance and theatre with a special aptitude for creative dance and drama. She regularly teaches at the CRA and through private workshops and classes throughout B.C.
What will the workshop be about?
Finch explains: “In this workshop we will be working with whole body creative movement exploration using toning, mirroring, holding song pattens and building interlocking soundscapes. There will be partner rhythm games and group songs, and lots of warming up and laughter.”
“Laughter is a huge part of the work we do together,” says DeTrey, “This will be a whole body tuneup. If it makes us laugh and teaches us some new skills then we all go away feeling really great!”
Call 250-336-2474 or e-mail joyjobird@gmail.com to register.
The cost is $40 for this three-hour workshop.
