More than 300 Shuswap residents experienced the song, music, dance and other entertaining offerings of FACES Studio’s first annual Spring recital.

More than 20 different numbers were performed throughout the night to a house that was standing-room only.

“The overall response was wonderful,” says studio owner Karen Brown.

The evening ended with a slideshow featuring  each child in his or her costume, followed with photos taken by a professional photographer.

“It was a chance for the crowd and the kids to hoot and holler for each other, and certainly for the students to receive another round of accolades,” says Brown.

“Their dedication to the studio and the respect that they show for Tom and I, their teachers, and for each other is remarkable,” she says. “The parents should be very, very proud of their kids. They’ve all shown like stars in my opinion.”

Brown says the studio will be will be expanding its offerings with more times and new classes.

“We are adding tap to the schedule for Fall as a new tap teacher with lots of experience has been found,” she says. “Also, we’ve had someone step forward wanting to teach Highland dance for two hours a week.”

Lyrical and modern dance styles also be added to the calendar.

The studio currently runs on a 10-week term, from April 8 to mid-June, giving students the opportunity to try something new in the arts, such music, dance or visual arts.

Early registration for next year begins Saturday, June 15 at the studio. Families who register early will save the GST.
