Abbotsford Youth Orchestra’s tour ensemble, along with the British Columbia Boys Choir, will perform “O Canada” and “God Save the Queen” on Parliament Hill for the Canada Day 2014 noon show.
“The students were very excited when I was finally able to tell them,” said director Calvin Dyck.
The lineup for the televised show had been under wraps until this week, when the official announcement was made about the entertainment for the ceremonies in Ottawa.
Performers include Brett Kissel, Marianas Trench, Nadja, Serena Ryder, Terry Kelly and Véronic DiCaire, as well as a demonstration by the Canadian Snowbirds.
The youth orchestra will be touring across Canada with the B.C. Boys Choir performing their show “O Canada Our Home – Songs and Stories of Canada.”
They will perform in all 10 provinces this July, starting with three concerts in B.C.
The Abbotsford show is on Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m. at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Rd. Tickets are still available at House of James, King’s Music or at the door.
