Alistair MacGregor has been nominated to run again for the NDP in the Cowichan-Malahat-Langford riding on Dec. 2.
MacGregor was nominated by Dale Lovick, the former NDP MLA from Nanaimo and one of MacGregor’s original nominators in 2015, as well as young New Democrat Lexi Lazenby at a meeting in Cobble Hill.
MacGregor was acclaimed as the candidate and said he is excited to be representing the NDP in the upcoming 2019 election.
He was first elected in the last federal election in 2015.

“I feel very honoured to have been selected as the local NDP’s candidate for the next federal election,” stated MacGregor.
“The amazing people and inspiring work being done in my community keep me motivated to continue fighting for those who don’t have a voice, for those that continue to struggle to make ends meet, and to protect our environment for our future generations.”
Special guest Gord Johns, MP for Courtenay-Alberni, spoke passionately in support of MacGregor’s nomination at the meeting and highlighted the work the NDP has been doing recently in Ottawa, including the unanimous passage of an NDP motion ordering the government to increase spending for veterans’ services, and the push to implement a National Ocean Plastics Strategy.
“We can and must do better as a country,” said MacGregor.
“Too many people in our wealthy county are housing insecure, struggling to pay high childcare costs, or unable to afford their medications. We can build a better Canada for our future generations, one where no one is left behind. This is our vision for Canada and the reason I am asking to be sent back to Ottawa to continue to work for positive change.”
