Election day is fast approaching and opportunities for advance voting will be expiring soon.
Castlegar area residents and most residents of the surrounding rural areas can participate in advance voting at the Castlegar Community Complex between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on October 11, 12, 13 and 14.
In person voting at an Elections Canada office is also an option until October 15 at 6 p.m. The closest locations are 3375 Laburnim Street in Trail and 570 Johnstone Road in Nelson.
Mail in voting ends at 6 p.m. on October 15. Go to elections.ca for information and forms.
On election day — October 21 — voters must go to their assigned polling station in order to vote. If you have received your voter information card in the mail, it will tell you where to vote. You can also find out the information by entering your address into the search tool at elections.ca. All voting locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m..
Castlegar area polling stations:
Residents of Castlegar, Ootischenia, Blueberry — Castlegar Community Complex, 2101 6th Avenue.
Residents of Robson, Raspberry and Pass Creek — Robson Community Hall, 3067 Waldie Avenue, Robson.
Residents of Crescent Valley — Crescent Valley Community Hall, 1385 HWY 6, Crescent Valley.
Residents of Slocan — W.E. Graham Community School, 915 Harold Street, Slocan.
Residents of Slocan Park and Winlaw — Winlaw Elementary School, 5604 Winlaw Bridge Road.
The listed catchment areas are generalities, each voter should confirm their voting location with Elections Canada.
Identification
Make sure and bring your identification with you when you go to vote. If you have a driver’s licence or government issued photo identification, that is all you will need. If you don’t, you can bring two other pieces of identification such as your voter information card, utility bill or student ID. If you do not have ID, you can have someone who knows you and is assigned to your polling station to vouch for you. The voucher must be able to prove their identity and address.
