Buddhadeb Dasgupta, whom many critics consider to be India’s foremost filmmaker, will speak at a free public presentation Nov. 6 at UBCO about his work.
Using clips of selected films on the topic How I Grow My Image, Dasgupta will paticipate in a discussion with the audience.
An economics professor by training, Dasgupta’s reputation rests as much on the lyrical poetry of his films as on the socially relevant themes.
His films exploit the realms of reality and sail beyond the assumed horizon.
He is regarded as one of the master filmmakers in the world cinema.
His documentaries
have also been celebrated.
The presentation starts at 4 p.m. Nov. 6 in room EME 1203, in the engineering, management and education
building on the UBC Okanagan campus.
The event is sponsored by the departments of sociology and history.
