The RCMP Lower Mainland District has won this year’s Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) Police Partnership Award for their Alexa’s Team Impaired Driving Reduction Partnership.
The team is lead by Traffic Services Operations Officer Insp. Ted Emanuels.
“It is an honour to be able to work with such a visionary,” said Allan Lamb, president and COO of the BCAA Road Safety Foundation. “I have worked with Insp. Emanuels on many road safety initiatives, but the scope and growth of Alexa’s Team has been truly inspiring.”
Since 2008, the number of team members has grown from 26 to more than 350, and members have processed more than 32,000 impaired driving charges and penalties.
Alexa Renée Middelaer, 4, was killed by a drunk driver in Delta in 2008.
