Looking for ideas about finding the potential in your new home? Or how to turn a fixer-upper into the home of your dreams?

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s annual House Tour will yield more than a few ideas.

Celebrating 62 years of introducing residents to some of the finest designs and renovations in Greater Victoria, the fundraiser takes place Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Under the theme “The Art of Dramatic Living,” this year’s tour features unique homes owned by local art and theatre buffs, honouring homeowners’ connections to the arts.

“This is one of our largest fundraisers benefiting the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria,” says event co-chair Pieta VanDyke of the Gallery Associates. “The funds raised support the mandate of the gallery, which includes the development of education as well as exhibition programming.”

Presented by the Gallery Associates, the self-directed tour will lead visitors to several head-turning homes in Oak Bay, along with those in James Bay and Saanich, ranging from a contemporary residence with a bonsai garden to an 1889 cottage with an expansive flower garden.

Unique to the House Tour is its Art in the Garden component, where some of Victoria’s most accomplished artists work at their art at each location. This year’s artists include Robert Amos, Catherine Moffat, Christine Reimer, Claire Christinel, Nicole Sleeth and Victor Lotto. Each home will also feature a stunning floral creation courtesy of the Victoria Floral Artists Guild.

Tickets are $35 and are available at the art gallery, all GardenWorks locations, all Brown’s the Florist locations and online at aggv.ca/events/house-tour-2015-tickets. Various options for on-line ticket pick-up will be provided when tickets are purchased. For more information, visit aggv.ca or call 250-384-4171.
