Did you receive an e-reader for Christmas?

The Friends of the Westbank Library, as part of their speaker series, will be offering a session on Downloading eBooks from Library to Go on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the Westbank Branch of the Okanagan Regional Library.

Dance club

The Friday Night Dance Club will be holding their next dance on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 8 to 11 p.m. at The Royal Canadian Legion Hall with the band Buzz Byer.

Additional dances will be held Feb. 11, March 10, April 14 and May 12. The bands will be: January and February (Buzz Byer), March (About Time), April (New Vintage), and May (Shindigger).  Enjoy an evening of dancing, fellowship, prizes and food for a most reasonable price.

Nominations

Nomination deadline for the fifth annual Okanagan Arts Awards, which include Arts Educator, Music, Dance, and Supporter of the Arts, Design, Theatre, Literary Arts, Visual Arts and Media Arts, is 4 p.m. on Jan. 9. Go to www.okanaganartsawards.com for the dates, forms, and all other details. Nomination packages are also available at the Arts Centre on Main Street.

Music showcase

Buzz Brazz, a Quebec-based ensemble which makes classical cool, is the next group performing as part of the Children’s Showcase series.  Sunday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Cleland Theatre in Penticton.  Buzz Brass www.buzzbrass.com.

Featuring five talented brass musicians and one actor, their musitheatrical performance is both exciting and hilarious. Their award-winning show takes us on a whirlwind tour through musical history from prehistoric man to the present – and history has never been so much fun.
