Miss World Canada 2011 Riza Santos (third from left) recently toured Surrey Memorial Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with representatives of Variety, the Children’s Charity.
Santos was joined by Jessica Zraly and Marika Siewert for a tour led by Brenda Haan, the NICU Clinical Lead.
The Miss World Canada organization raises funds for Variety, which announced in 2009 a donation of more than $1 million to Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation.
In recognition, a new 48-bed NICU opening at the hospital in 2014 will be named the Variety Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The Miss World Canada 2012 Pageant will be held May 13 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond.
