The Centre for Spiritual Living, Campbell River, celebrated 12 years of community, study and service with a gathering on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the newly-occupied Centre, 561 S. Dogwood St.
Preceded by a guided meditation, the event also marked the graduation of students from 2014 and 2015 who completed classwork in Science of Mind, Prosperity Plus, and Ralph Waldo Emerson courses.
This last year has been a busy and productive one for the Centre, with the recent acquisition of the property known as the old Elks Hall. The members are currently renovating the interior for multi-purpose use: in addition to the large meeting space and licensed commercial kitchen, rental offices are also being built.
This ambitious project is underway completely with volunteer labour, upwards of one thousand hours, and counting.
At the same time, the Centre has participated in community events supporting the food bank, Red Cross and hospice; hosted a Circle of Love gathering on Quadra Island that saw attendees from all over North America, and, just for fun, organized many hikes and barbeques to celebrate summer in beautiful natural surroundings.
The Centre is known for its inclusive nature, existing to encourage anyone who is interested in spiritual quest and education, regardless of background, lifestyle or chosen path. Its mission is to provide tools to support personal and global transformation.
In fulfilling this role, the Centre offers ongoing classes in spiritual tools such as meditation, journaling, affirmations and mindful living.
