A barbecue in support of children in crisis is coming up fast.

On Thursday September 22, Sobeys will be hosting a barbecue for Cops for Kids, which includes Golden’s rider Michael Hull.

Cops for Kids is an organization that has raised over $1.4 million in the past 11 years. The funds are donated to children in medical, physical and traumatic crisis.

Cops for Kids aids children in need of wheel chairs, therapies, elevators, travel and food expenses, equipment children may need for their home, mobility tools and other various tools needed due to their struggle.

Among various other fundraisers throughout the year, the Cops for Kids Ride is the organization’s signature event. The ride consists of a 10 day cycle through the Southern Interior of British Columbia.

A recent press release explained that the ride “symbolizes the journey these children must take from illness to wellness, and gives riders and crew the opportunity to personally thank the many in each community who have selflessly supported the cause.”

The riders will be travelling through 19 communities on their 10-day journey.

“This is a labour of love for the dedicated riders who participate. They endure many gruelling kilometres and suffer many aches and pains, all to raise much needed awareness and funds to support the children they serve.”

The Cops for Kids riders will be hitting town on Thursday, September 22 around 1 p.m. and will be at Sobeys where there will be a barbecue and various other surprises you can only see if you attend. All of the food has been donated by Sobeys and all of the profits from the barbecue will be donated to the Cops for Kids foundation.

It’s also not too late to donate to Cops for Kids online. Visit www.copsforkids.org, click “the ride” – “riders” and find Hull’s name. You can also follow the riders on their journey at the same website.
