The Rocky Mountain Alliance Church is inviting people to share in the inspiring story of courage and heroism when they screen the film Courageous: Honor Begins at Home.
“My wife and I have seen it twice, and we can’t wait to see it again,” said Mike Copple, a member of the church involved in organizing the movie screening.
The film, the fourth produced by Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, is about four men, all law-enforcement officers, who are not living up to the standards of parenthood. But after tragedy hits home, they discover that their standard is missing the mark.
“It’s about fathers being courageous enough to raise their kids with values,” said Copple.
“The theatre in Red Deer had the movie on as a matinee… they decided to show it during prime time, and it ran for six weeks. So it did really well there.”
The church will be showing the film four times, on Jan. 13, 14, 20, and 21. All showings will be at the church at 7 p.m.
The church tries to show movies often, all with a Christian background.
In the past, the showings have primarily been attended by the 60 to 70 members of the congregation, but all are welcome. Admission is free, but if you wish you may make a donation towards their community Youth Ministry.
“It’s a very entertaining movie, but you will need Kleenex,” said Copple. “And it’s not just for fathers, it’s for everyone.”
