Crisis line steady

Volunteers at non-profit agency handle a high number of calls during January and February

The People In Need Crisis Line continues to provide help to local residents.

There were a total of 425 calls in January and 506 calls in February.

There were 135 calls for mental and emotional health issues in January and 153 in February. For personal and family concerns, there were 49 calls in January and 56 in February.

Suicide-related calls accounted for 42 in January and 41 in February.

Other reasons for calls included addictions and physical health.

The crisis line is a free service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 1-888-353-2273.
