Danielea
Castell has released her
debut CD entitled, Thank
you Water.
The chants and medicine
melodies on the CD all came
to her during ceremonies
with different bodies of water
between 2012 – 2014, mostly
in B.C. and Alberta.
“With limited time to complete
the CD, I chose the
songs with the most meaningful
messages from the
water,” Danielea said.
“My intention with the CD
is to help restore our sacred
relationship with water. After
all we are all more than 70
per cent water – this CD is
for everyone.”
As part of the Feb. 18
release, one of the tracks
“Thank you Fraser River”
was broadcast in Paddlewheel
Park in Prince George
beside the Fraser River.
One of the many people
who attended that CD
launch had this to say about
the music and her reaction.
“As each note rolled over
me towards the river, I felt
the waters of my being not
only touched by the sounds,
but deeply connected to the
Fraser River and to every
other body of water I’ve
ever been to,” Jenn Pretious
Koh said.
Danielea said her intention
was to honour the teachings
and music given to her by the
bodies of water.
“However, there’s an unexpected
application of this
music. If you listen to the
CD while sitting with a body
of water, it seems your connection
to water deepens,”
she added.
Danielea has a unique
ability to communicate with
water, something she believes
is possible for everyone when
you connect with a body of
water with your heart.
“Danielea is a conduit for
critical messages from our
rivers and waterways,” Guy
Scharf, fisheries technician
and water protector said.
“She gives an important
voice to those who do
not speak our ‘language’.
Through her music she can
reach all kinds of people and
that’s the key to improving
our relationship with water.”
From the time of her childhood,
Danielea has enjoyed a
conscious and subconscious
connection to water.
She is the founder of the
Water Gratitude Project that
aims to establish relationships
with bodies of water
through mindful attention
and creative forms of gratitude.
The public is invited to an
open house at Danielea’s
