The Golden and District Lions had a special visitor at the club’s Nov. 21 meeting when District Governor Lion, Laura Wintersteen-Arleth, was in Golden.

Wintersteen-Arleth was at the meeting and spoke to a group of Lions and Leos about the work that they do.

“I am so happy to be here as your district governor. I have, for so long, admired your club because of Orlando (Pecora). Following him and all the commitment and dedication he has for his community is remarkable,” she said.

She promoted the idea of helping out with literacy projects in Golden and working with youth in the community.

She also spoke about helping out with projects which ensure children have enough to eat in the community.

“Looking at your club and all of the activities that the Lions and Leos do, your club is an excellent club,” she said. “You have teamwork. You have a group of people who have joined together and put on programs.”

Wintersteen-Arleth was also on hand to help four new members of the Leos join at the dinner event.

At the end of her speech she thanked the club for letting her speak at the dinner and indicated she was looking forward to her next trip to the area.
