Schools are still in the hunt in Guildford Town Centre’s earning4learning contest, where shoppers earn a point for their favourite school for every dollar spent and registered.

When the contest ends on April 10, the top 20 schools will receive cash prizes totalling $15,750. First prize is $5,000 while schools finishing 16th through 20th will each receive $250. More than 30 schools are vying for the 16th through 20th spots.

“It’s amazing how close the race is in a bunch of spots,” said Rosavel Scott, marketing director at Guildford. “For those 30 schools which have 200 to 1,100 points, it’s still up for grabs and a last-week push could make a difference in getting that $250 prize. This is very exciting and fun.”

For first place, Holly Elementary currently has an enormous lead for the grand prize of $5,000. With more than 34,000 points, Holly is comfortably ahead of second place Old Yale Road at around 13,000. But anything can happen if consumers at any school decide to make a big push.

Scott said buyers have alternatives.

“You can build up points by liking our contest page on Facebook,” says Scott. “You can also buy gift cards and can get any of your old receipts dating back to Feb. 15 and bring those in for validation for your favourite school as well. But they have to be registered by April 10.”

Those interested can get more information and check a school’s point totals on the Guildford page on Facebook. Click on the earning4learning apple logo and like it in order to see the latest point totals and contest rules. An independent firm will verify results before the final announcement of all winners is made.
