Abbotsford City of Character Society hosted a ‘Community Connections’ event on Wednesday, March 5th at the Reach Gallery and Museum in Abbotsford.
The event was led by Don Beer, Abbotsford Fire Chief and a member of the Abbotsford Character Council’s board of directors. Attended by more than 35 community leaders from Chilliwack, Mission, Abbotsford and Langley, the event featured presentations that highlighted the character journey that Abbotsford has been on for the past three years. Included in these presentations were examples of how Abbotsford’s character values; Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Courage, Empathy and Service; are being woven into schools, non-profit organizations and business.
“The power in this type of an event is found in the sharing of information across communities. We all have a desire to live in cities that value and promote good character, and it’s an honour to share our story with our neighbouring cities” ~ Don Beer, Event Lead (Fire Chief & Abbotsford Character Council board of directors member).
Abbotsford will be hosting the first national conference on character this coming fall at the Ramada Plaza Conference Centre. Dates for the conference are October 16 -17. For more information visit AbbyCharacter.com
