Family Literacy Night promises stories, songs and crafts

The next fun Family Literacy Night at the Duncan Mall is set for Friday, Jan. 16.

Held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. once a month or so, these evenings are meant for children aged 18 months to eight years and their parents, grandparents and other family members.

Activities include story times, poetry, games, songs and crafts along with cooking, play and literacy activities. Information on the importance of oral language in learning is provided for parents.

Among the groups helping with this special outreach are Learning Links, Cowichan Family Life, Aboriginal Success by 6, Cowichan Inter-Cultural Society and Literacy Now Cowichan.
