They say fish sometimes bite better when it’s raining and members of the  Parksville-Qualicum Fish & Game Club certainly seemed to find that last weekend.

The club hosted the annual Fishing Forever event for disabled, elderly and shut-in residents and, while the clouds opened up and the temperatures remained unseasonably cool, they reported some significant success.

Fishing Forever organizer John Domovich said the event, held at the Coombs Campground fishing hole, saw some big ones reeled in.

“It was a rather damp event, but there were some whoppers,” he said. “About a dozen of them.”
