A limited-time opportunity to improve your fitness or lose weight is coming to Invermere.
A 60-Day Fitness Challenge, presented by Fitness 4 Life, will be available starting May 4 and is $149. This two-month program focuses on health and physical wellness for its participants, and the first-place winner of the challenge will receive a personal training gift certificate from Fitness 4 Life, a three-month gym membership at the Invermere Valley Fitness Centre, and $200 in gift certificates from local participating businesses.
The challenge consists of before and after body fat assessments, a weekly group bootcamp, do-it-yourself workouts to improve muscular endurance and cardiovascular fitness, nutritional guidance, weekly tips and tricks on being healthy and active, regular fitness challenges, and support from professional consultants as the challenge runs its course.
Participants can also take advantage of membership discounts at the Invermere Valley Fitness Centre, as well as Crazy Soles, Fusion Wellness Spa and Spring Health Foods.
“This challenge was thought up by three girls: myself, Miel Llewellyn and Stephanie Woodwark,” said Jill Andrews, owner of Fitness 4 Life for four years. “We wanted to offer the Columbia Valley a challenge to strive for since the summer is fast approaching. You can kind of think of it as ‘The Biggest Loser’ competition.”
Those looking to participate in the challenge are suggested to bring yoga mats and any small weights or elastic tubing they have for the weekly workout sessions.
“There is a group class every week on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.,” said Andrews. “This group class will focus on strength training, core stability and cardiovascular health.
“Participants will also receive many tools that they can take home with them to educate themselves on healthy living, getting active and achieving their personal goals.
“This event will help all individuals achieve their own personal goals no matter what fitness level they are, or if they have injuries or illness. This challenge is based only on how hard each person wants to push themselves but at the same time giving each person the tools to teach themselves how to live healthy and how to be active while enjoying their life.”
