George Mackie Library launches new afternoon book club

Help choose which titles are featured during the first meeting on Nov. 26.

Would you like to join a book club but would prefer to meet during the day?  An afternoon book club is being launched at the George Mackie Library in North Delta.  The inaugural meeting will be on Thursday, Nov. 26 from 1-2:30 p.m. at the library, 8440 112 St.

The group plans to meet on the fourth Thursday of every month.

Those who participate in the first meeting will have the opportunity to help determine which titles to select for reading in the coming year. The choices are vast as the Fraser Valley Regional Library (FVRL) Book Discussion Groups Collection currently has 325 titles on its inventory.

If you are unable to attend the November meeting but are interested in joining, please call or visit the library to find out what the first title will be.  It may be something you’ve always wanted to read, or a book you might not normally have chosen on your own.  Either way, good discussion is guaranteed.

The FVRL’s Book Discussion Groups Collection currently has 325 titles on their inventory and supplies a total of 145 book clubs.  Besides their own library book clubs, Tsawwassen Library provides title sets to 14 other book clubs, George Mackie Library to four other book clubs and Ladner Pioneer Library supplies sets to five book clubs.

Check out the Events page on the FVRL website (www.fvrl.bc.ca) for dates and times of all Delta Libraries’ book clubs. Refreshments are served at club meetings.
