Everything is coming up roses for the upcoming Seedy Saturday event in Qualicum Beach, slated for Feb. 4 at the Civic Centre.
In preparation for the big day, which sees agricultural producers and ordinary gardeners swapping and selling seeds and other gardening essentials, organizers are kicking things off with a special pre-show presentation by Linda Gilkeson, entitled, Troubleshooting Town Hall: Get Ready For Your 2012 Garden.
Gilkeson will be ready to answer questions to help solve some of the tougher gardening problems.
The presentation is in the Windsor Room at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre. Seating is limited so please plan on arriving early to secure a seat.
Organizers noted the event will also feature sales of raffle tickets for the top prize of a Cuisinart food processor, donated by Qualicum Foods, as well as artworks and gardening products.
This year’s raffle, they noted, has been limited to just 800 tickets, which are available now and will be on sale Saturday, Jan. 28 outside Qualicum Foods, 705 Memorial, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tickets will be available from roving sellers at the main event on Saturday, and the winning numbers will be drawn at 3:15 p.m. Winners do not have to be present at the time of the draw and will be notified by telephone.
However, with the Seed Swap in the Lion’s Room, the farmers’ market on the main stage, speakers in the Windsor Room, healthy food available all day at the Seedy Cafe, and over 70 vendors to check out, why leave?
Seedy Saturday runs from 10 a.m.to 3:30 p.m., with admission by donation
