The Golden and District Hospital wanted to thank the people who stepped up and helped the facility purchase a new pediatric crib stretcher.
“Thanks to generous donations from the community, Interior Health has a brand new pediatric crib stretcher to support maternity services at Golden and District Hospital. Cops for Kids contributed $11,500 and the East Kootenay Foundation for Health contributed an additional $2,865 it received through local donations from the Mountain Magic Quilters Guild, EZ Rock Radiothon and the Golden Paramedics Association,” said Tammy Perks, Golden Hospital administrative assistant.
Perks explained how the crib will help families in the Golden area.
“It is this kind of community effort that allows us to provide the kind of care we know is important for our pediatric population. This crib provides a safe and friendly environment for a child. At the same time it provides safety and convenience for nursing staff and physicians when working with very sick kids,” she said.
She went on to explain that the community donations have allowed the hospital to focus capital funding money towards other important equipment purchases within the facility that will benefit their patients.
“The Cops for Kids group continues to focus their fund raising efforts to our pediatric population. We appreciate all the work and generosity that made this purchase possible,” said Deborah Austin, health service administrator.
Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Golden/Field detachment were on hand to learn more about how having the new crib will help local children.
