A tour of the new wildlife hospital and property will follow the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society’s (MARS) Wildlife Rescue annual general meeting at Merville Hall this Saturday from 10:30 a.m .till noon.

Everyone is welcome to attend and new members will have full voting privileges. Members will hear reports on rescues and releases, elect board members and officers for the coming year and find out about future plans for the 11-acre site off Williams Beach Road at Highway 19A.

“We will plant trees at the new site to mark the occasion and there will be a barbecue for all who attend,” said Warren Warttig, MARS president.

MARS, a licensed and regulated facility, provides rescue, rehabilitation, recovery and release for injured and orphaned wildlife in central and northern Vancouver Island. With a caseload that has grown to 700 annually, the volunteer-powered, donor funded organization is completing a new, larger hospital and recovery centre in the Comox Valley.
