Who do you think knows you best: your mother, your father, a sibling, a friend, a spouse? Or someone else?
How well do you know yourself? What are you really worth? What is your true value as measured both in time and in eternity?
The Bible teaches that man is of infinite value, worth more than all the world. Made by God in His image and likeness, man was given authority over the creatures of the sea, the air and the earth. Man and woman were created by God, blessed by Him and commanded to be fruitful, to increase in number and to fill the earth and subdue it.
What is man?
Firstly, man is the direct and voluntary creation of God Almighty.
Secondly, he is made of the dust of the ground permeated by the breath of life. He is a mingling of dust and of the spirit – life of God. Man is in all creation the only link between the material and the spiritual.
Parents may call you stupid, teachers may call you dumb, acquaintances may call you no good, and society may call you worthless, but that is certainly not God’s evaluation.
When Jesus said, “What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul,” He placed your value above that of all the world and its riches.
In the great scheme of human life, you have a destiny in God’s plan and purpose. One day you will stand before Him to give account of your choices and actions on the road of life.
The Psalmist David said that the Lord searched him and knew him and that He knew when he sat down and got up. He knew all about him.
David wrote: (Psalm 139 ESV) “You formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. …I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” The Lord knows us inside out. He knows us better than we know ourselves and He values us so much and thought so highly of us that He died in order for us to have eternal life.
Do you think enough of yourself and your worth to accept God’s gift of forgiveness and life everlasting?
