PARKSVILLE — As National Blood Donor Week runs June 13 to 19, Canadian Blood Services is calling on Canadians from coast to coast to “Rally Together to Save Lives.”

National Blood Donor Week provides opportunities to celebrate and thank the generous donors from coast to coast that support the blood system in Canada. However, as the demand for blood increases year over year, Canadian Blood Services needs to grow and diversify its donor base across Canada.

To help meet that demand, Canadian Blood Services has recently launched a bold new marketing and recruitment campaign called “Rally Together to Save Lives,” aimed at growing the donor base. As part of that campaign, Canadian Blood Services has created the Blood Signal, a visual and aural icon that connects people socially and emotionally to the idea of giving blood. Visit www.bloodsignal.ca to learn more about the blood donation icon.

Mid-Island residents can support Canada’s blood system at the following clinics:

• Parksville Community Centre, 132 Jensen Avenue.

– Wednesday, June 15 – 12 to 7 p.m. – 43 appointments open.

– Thursday, June 16 – 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – 34 appointments open.

Call 1 888 2 DONATE (1 888 236 6283) to book your appointment.
