Gold Pan City Dance studio welcomes Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk Feb. 15, 7 p.m.

Mann is a reflective folk musician from Calgary, Alberta who’s been passionate about music for as long as she can remember.

Beginning with classical piano, then turning to jazz training and finally folk, she has retained all the best of the three styles.

Last year, Mann released her first album Stories from Home which is a compilation of songs from her past as well as several unreleased tracks written and recorded between 2006 and 2009.

“Writing a song is like telling a story,” Mann said.

“The words, melodies, chords, phrasing, intonation, they’re all part of the story.”

Fresh from building her reputation in Calgary, Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk have booked a 63-day tour across Canada which includes her stop in Quesnel.

Mann’s reflective songwriting and captivating folk-pop melodies will catch the audience off guard in the nicest way possible.

She values the creativity of others and none more than her backup band Fairly

Odd Folk which includes her husband Zoltan

Szoges.

Tickets, at $10 each, may be purchased at Bo Peep Boutique or at the Gold Pan City Dance studio, 213 St. Laurent Ave.
