Your muscles aren’t the only things needing a regular workout.
“Healthy aging is important for everyone, and it is essential not to forget the health of your brain as well,” said Carly Gronlund, support and education coordinator for the non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C. for Vernon and the Central & North Okanagan.
The society brings its free Heads Up! An Introduction to Brain Health workshop to Vernon Wednesday, offering strategies for actively engaging in protecting and maintaining the brain.
Participants will learn how to set goals for improving the health of their mind, body and spirit.
The society reports that 78 per cent of Canadians think brain health is at least as important as physical health, but aren’t sure what it takes to keep their brain in good shape.
“What’s good for your heart is good for your head. Choosing to eat well and exercise can help reduce your risk for developing Alzheimer’s.”
Anyone interested in brain health is welcome to attend the Wednesday workshop, which runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at The People Place, 3402-27th Ave. Seats are limited so pre-registration is required. Contact Gronlund toll-free at 1-800-634-3399 or cgronlund@alzhjeimerbc.org.
