The 52nd Scottish Division was attached to the Canadian Army and fought through France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany until the war ended in May 1945.  They were demobilized in January 1946.

The 52nd Scottish Division was the only mountain division in the British Army and trained in the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland.  They then turned into Airborn using the Horse glider and a small fragile American glider – a very delicate machine.

We were stationed at the Turnhouse Aerodrome and Portobello when the first air raid took place on the warships lying in the Firth of Forth.

They got a big surprise when the Edinburgh Squadron went after them.

I (Scott) was in Edinburgh at the time and saw several bombers flying over the castle.  The raid took place in September of 1939.
