Chris Madsen brings together fellow musicians for an evening of positive feel- good entertainment at the Powerhouse Theatre on Friday for The Love Uprising Concert.
Inspired to offer a concert concept that presents healthy positive affirmations of life, Madsen believes we can each be powerful examples of the change we want to see in the world.
“The best way to begin to change the world is by coming together in a sense of unity to create something of joy and beauty,” he said. “There’s plenty of evidence that an upbeat focus improves well-being, relationships and every area of human activity.
“Music is the language of the heart. It helps restore our connection settings to ourselves, each other and to life’s goodness. So what’s possible when people come together to share music and song in ways that validate wholeness, peace, wonder, harmony and love? Come to The Love Uprising Concert and find out.”
Concert organizer and award-winning instrumental guitarist Madsen leads the line- up with his unique meditative approach.
Joining him is accomplished local musician William Brookfield, who tours with the Louisiana Hayride Stage Show. Along with Penny Lochhead, he will deliver their signature harmonies with renditions of favourites such as Wonderful World, The River and Let Your Love Flow along with some of their inspired original pieces.
Returning to Vernon to share his vision for peace and social harmony, legendary folk singer and guitarist Thomas P. Radcliffe brings his richness of talent and experience to a performance filled with positive and uplifting energy.
Raised in a musical family, Okanagan native Lora Bensmiller brings her beautiful voice, original compositions and years of professional experience to the stage.
A capella and from the heart, Brad Watson expresses the gift of his natural talent through solos that move and inspire.
Amongst others who will be on stage is Alana Lily Piche, whose voice and presence offers a magical almost fairy tale quality to her performances.
Where there is joy and beauty there is love, and The Love Uprising Concert aims to share a stage with these.
Offered for sale in the lobby will be CDs by performing artists plus a selection of handcrafted colourful imports from Nepal, part of a locally sponsored aid-through- trade project that is an entrepreneurial example of the love uprising in action.
Light refreshments will available. Admission is by donation at the door.
The Love Uprising Concert is a family-friendly event that takes place Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Powerhouse Theatre, 2901-35th Ave., Vernon.
