Manning Park Resort is pleased to announce that snow operations are opening earlier than expected this season. Due to excellent conditions and heavy snowfall with the past few weather systems, they are set to open their Nordic area this weekend, November 21 and 22. The official ski hill opening is now planned for the weekend of November 28.
With an average base of 113cm and cold and clear conditions in the future, snow enthusiasts will be able to get on the hill earlier than expected. Operations will be slightly limited, but Manning Park and its staff are looking forward to welcoming new and returning visitors to the hill and Resort.
The Nordic Centre will be open for trail passes and rentals on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday November 22 from 8:30 a.m – 4:30p.m. Skate and classic cross-country gear, as well as snowshoes will be available. Lessons will not be starting this weekend, but bookings will be accepted for the following weekend.
The Nordic area will be groomed and track-set from the Campground Loop up to the ski hill for this weekend, and potentially down to the Lodge, depending on conditions. The skating rink will not be open yet.
The Alpine opening is planned for November 28, one of the earliest openings in the ski hill’s 50 plus year history. The operations and amenities will be announced this coming week.
“I’m hoping that our staff and I can have an impact on our guests, making skiing and Manning Park a success for them,” said Andy Boule, Manning Park’s new ski area manager.
The forecasted conditions are for cold and clear this weekend, with more snow next week at the ski hill opening. Manning saw more snowfall last year than most of the local mountains, due to colder, dryer temperatures and a slightly higher elevation.
Manning Park Resort is a four season family resort 45 minutes east of Hope on Highway #3, that offers year-round camping and accommodation, hiking, canoeing, skiing/boarding, 64km of Nordic trails, snowshoeing and an outdoor ice rink.
