Later this month, Mission’s Tania Lesurf will be lacing up her sneakers to participate in the BC Lung Association’s 10th annual Stairclimb for Clean Air.
The event challenges British Columbians to go one-on-one with one of B.C.’s tallest staircases — 48 floors and 739 steps tall — in support of lung health and clean air. The staircase leads to the rooftop of Vancouver landmark, the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel.
“This will be my third time at the event,” said Lesurf, who works in Fraser Health’s Abbotsford/Mission Home Support Services department. “I first participated after working in an acute medical ward and seeing first-hand the effects of lung disease.”
To participate, a registration fee of $25 is required to cover event administration and participants must fundraise a minimum of $125. In return they receive a limited edition 2011 Stairclimb for Clean Air T-shirt, a post-climb brunch, compliments of the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel, a goodie bag full of treats, and prizes.
