Last year, almost 2,000 people came to see the Museum at Campbell River’s Festival of Trees, and the Museum hopes this year’s event will be even bigger.
As they gear up for their third year of this successful event, the Museum is looking for your help.
Each of the 20 trees is decorated by a business or individual who makes a donation to the Museum. The Museum is looking for participants who would like to support this fundraising event.
Decorated trees are judged in a variety of categories, including Most Unique, Most Traditional, Best of Festival, and of course the coveted People’s Choice Award.
Last year, the People’s Choice Award went to Broadstreet Properties & Seymour Pacific after visitors voted for their favourites throughout the month of December.
The Christmas season at the Museum is full of festive events and the Festival of Trees creates an ideal backdrop for these events.
Dec. 5 will be Lego Day, where Lego creations are built to decorate one of the trees, and Dec. 12 will be the Chestnuts and Carols, an afternoon of music, entertainment, refreshments and treats.
Among the display of trees there is a display of antique toys. If you have a special old toy that would be a great addition to the display this year, contact the Museum. The Museum is also on the lookout for old Christmas catalogues, especially from the ‘60s, to use as part of the display.
Don’t worry if you would like to participate but are too busy this time of the year to decorate a tree yourself – the Museum has some helpful elves who can decorate your tree for you.
