Ripley Cuthbert dances the Grass Dance during National Aboriginal Day festivities at the Elks Hall in Clearwater on Saturday, June 18. The dance originated with the Omaha branch of the Sioux and represents the men flattening grass to create a campsite, creating safety and harmony. Behind him is his grandmother, Rose Macarthur. Although actual numbers were hard to estimate because people were coming and going, probably about 150 took part in the event.
