s been arranged for those who may have struggled with similar efforts in the past. It’s being launched by School District No. 62 and will take place here in Sooke, offering convenience to local residents. This curriculum is described as “self paced,” and offers one-on-one teacher support in addition to the services of an academic advisor.A number of classes have been made available by the Edward Milne Community School Society over the years, yoga, bookkeeping and cooking, for example, but this program signifies a return to an academic focus which has been absent since 1999.“Most adults simply have limited time due to family and work commitments,” says EMCS Community School Coordinator Heather Walsh. “We’ve made it as easy as possible for them with a convenient location and a flexible, supportive network of teachers and advisors.” Basic Skills Upgrading is available as is high school level English and Math. Science may be included if there is sufficient demand. Those looking to boost their employability, move on to college or simply add to their knowledge can benefit from this program. For registration details or more information call 250-642-6371.
