Couer a la Creme

Here is an attractive and delicious dessert to make for Valentine’s Day or for any other romantic occassion. It gets its name from the heart shaped dish you make it in. If you don’t have one of these dishes you can use a small colander. This recipe fills a 3 and 1/2 cup mold.

1/2 cup whipping cream

250 gram package of cream cheese

1/4 cup of sugar

1 and 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla

1/2 cup dairy sour cream

fresh fruit for garnish

Whip cream until stiff. Set aside. Beat cream cheese until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar and vanilla. Beat in sour cream. Fold in whipped cream.

Line a heart shaped dish or colander with a moistened double layer of cheesecloth, leaving a generous overhang all around.

Fill with cheese mixture. Press down gently. Fold edges of cheesecloth over to cover. Refrigerate 24 hours.

Unmold onto serving plate, carefully removing the cheesecloth. Surround with fresh fruit.
