North Thompson Fall Fair wants your flowers

You’ll find so many categories that almost anyone can find a class to enter

Don’t let that impressive bloom die in the garden, bring it down to the Fall Fair and share the beauty.

My sister Dodie Lysak and I are convenors for the flower entries at the North Thompson Fall Fair in Barriere on the Labor Day weekend. Check out the Flower Section on pages 30 – 32, in the Fall Fair catalogue. You’ll find so many categories that almost anyone can find a class to enter flowers into the North Thompson Fall Fair this year, from your flower beds, flower gardens, or your flower boxes.

This is the 64th annual fall fair, and a huge event for the community of Barriere and the valley.  It’s been a pleasure over the years to recognize names from Valemount, Clearwater, Barriere, Louis Creek, Little Fort and even Kamloops that have exhibited in the Flower Section. All of the entries make the tables look impressive and beautiful with such a great variety of colourful flowers.

Thank you everyone in the past for your interest. You have helped to make this a highlight in the exhibit hall. If you have any questions please contact dibloomfield@hotmail.com about the Flower Section, or stop in at the Fall Fair office in the IDA Mall in Barriere.

My sister Dodie and I would really appreciate to have someone take over this Flower Section for next year. If there is someone who is interested in what is required, and perhaps would work with us this year towards taking over the section in 2014, please contact me at 250-318-3543 or email.

We are also in need of two people to help us this year in organizing the tables when the exhibits come in, and to assist when the judging is taking place. Don’t be shy, it’s fun and rewarding to volunteer with the  North Thompson Fall Fair.

Congratulations to 4-H in Canada on its 100th Anniversary – a wonderful achievement! I’m proud to say I was in the Barriere Knotting Bells 4-H Sewing Club. Yes, years back! I’m sure many of you have stories to tell about your days in 4-H over the years.

See you at the fair, and we look forward to welcoming your beautiful exhibits.
