To commemorate Parks Day, Parks Canada is planning special programming in Banff, Yoho and Kootenay national parks featuring a rich line-up of events and activities suitable for kids and adults alike on July 20.
All events and activities are free with park admission unless otherwise indicated.
BANFF NATIONAL PARK
Teddy Bear Picnic
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Experience Parks Day at the Cave and Basin National Historic Site – the Birthplace of Canada’s National Parks. Bring a picnic lunch to the Cave and Basin NHS, roll out your blanket and show off your favourite teddy bear at the annual Teddy Bear Picnic. Site entry fees apply.
Saving Wild Trout in Banff National Park
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Corral Creek picnic area on the Bow Valley Parkway.
How do you tell the difference between a brook trout and a western cut throat trout?
Our aquatics specialists can show you with models and an electro fishing demonstration. The electro fishing demonstration will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m.
