The Pet Safe Coalition Society of Canada (PSCS) is a dedicated group of volunteers who offer emergency short term assistance to all animals affected by disaster or extreme need. Volunteers are trained to work with a variety of animals and are able to assist rescuers; police, firefighters and more. Up until now, volunteers have used their own transportation and equipment to address these needs.
But, recently, with the help of funding grants from the Rotary Club of Quesnel and the Community Futures Foundation, the PSCS has been able to purchase a trailer. The mobile Animal Response trailer, equipped with supplies and equipment, now stands ready for a rapid response to any call for help.
The mobile unit was unveiled at a training event where volunteers became familiar with all of the perks. It has also been deployed to a forest fire evacuation before heading to an Animal Wellness clinic on the Saikāuz Reserve. As well, you may have seen it at the 2014 Fall Fair where the public were invited to learn about its capabilities.
This trailer, a unique mobile unit, is a wonderful addition to the tools available to animal advocates. It is ready to aid Quesnel and area residents and animals when disasters strike.
The PSCS heartily thanks the Community Futures Foundation and the Rotary Club of Quesnel. Without your assistance, this wish could not have become a reality.
