Plant sale at centre

It’s almost here. The Kent Street Seniors Society’s 13th annual plant sale is this Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. till noon at the Kent Street Activity Centre.

We welcome your donations of outdoor seedlings, cuttings, bulbs and more this Friday, April 29, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Do you require assistance with application forms for benefits such as old-age security, guaranteed-income supplements, pharmacies, medical services plan, housing and veterans’ affairs or bus passes?

Personal counsellor Joyce Schmaltz is available at Kent Street every Monday at 10 a.m. to assist you with completing these applications. No appointment necessary.

• Did you know White Rock Leisure Services now offers drop-in gym time at the Centre for Active Living?

We have treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, rowing machines, free weights and exercise balls – all in a brand-new facility.

Join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon, or if evenings suit you better, Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:15-8:15 p.m.

You can purchase an adult fitness pass or pay a small single drop-in fee each time you come. For info, or to purchase a pass, call 604-541-2199.

The bi-monthly hearing clinic is coming up in May at the Kent Street Activity Centre.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, May 18, if you wish to have your hearing tested, compliments of Boardwalk Hearing.

•Next Wednesday, May 4, local lawyer Al Benson will be available at Kent Street to answer your legal queries.

If you would like to meet with Benson, give us a call to let us know you’re coming. Appointments are on a first come, first served basis and are open to those 65+ on low income.

• Join us in the Kent Street auditorium tonight (Wednesday) for an evening of dancing to Quartette.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with dancing to live music 7:30-10:30. Tickets are available at the door.
