A group of Oak Bay realtors celebrated the cycle-friendly nature of the community with a recent tour of homes by bike.
Traditionally, realtors will regularly visit new listings by others in the area to provide feedback and learn about the properties. While that’s typically done by car, the realtors at Royal LePage Coast Capital Realty in Athlone Court recently took to their bikes for their tour.
“It was a lot of fun,” says Bill Ethier, president/managing broker.
Not only was the tour more environmentally friendly, but “it’s way easier.” While biking can take a little longer to reach the different parts of Oak Bay, it’s much easier to find a small area to rest bikes than to find parking for six or seven vehicles, he says, encouraging others to give it a try.
About eight realtors joined the two-wheel tour of properties and many more indicated they would like to join future rides. The tour finished at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel café.
“The feedback from the realtors was, ‘Let’s do this again,” Ethier says, noting planning is in the works for a second bike tour in early September.
The realtors are also hopeful the tours will start up again in the spring, once the winter weather passes, he says.
